Top Tips for Wedding DJs

It’s very important to understand your audience if you are a mobile DJ. For example, you really don’t want to arrive at a hard rock wedding with only a disco mirrorball and a Kylie Minogue record do you!? Yes this example is a bit extreme but you catch our drift – Be very prepared for the wedding gig with BOTH the right lighting and the right records. Never thought about the lighting in this way before? Well we’re here to make sure that you understand that it’s not only the records that a DJ plays that will affect the performance but also the lighting too.

DJ Lighting  crowd 1 – The Rocker style crowd

This is the easiest crowd to set your DJ lighting up for. They want to see a band style lighting set up. Plenty of Par Cans coupled together with a strobe or two and make sure you have a lot of smoke effects. They’ll be happy with that, it’s been proved over many years.

DJ Lighting  crowd 2  – The modern young couple

If it’s a modern young couple that are tying the knot then you’ll need to give them more of a night club lighting experience. This is always quite easily achieved. There are a number of DJ package lighting guides for you to check out that will help you in selecting the kind of beginner dj equipment hat will get your younger customers up and dancing and maybe even giving you a nice tip as well. This will normally consist of laser lights, strobes, LED RGB lights that are DMX controlled.

DJ Lighting  crowd 2 – The older customers

So the last example in this post on DJ lighting packages is when you may have an elderly couple  getting married. Do they want the heavy strobe and smoke of the rock wedding or the nightclub style lighting? No of course they don’t. What the elderly customers want is a more ambient set of lighting with a  classic mirrorball or even light screens of yesteryear.
